The internet world is growing rapidly like a mad fire in a jungle. There are approximately 9 people out of 10 who are involved directly or indirectly through this giant web. The reason behind this is itself the huge number of people involved in it. These people include friends & family, colleagues, people doing online business, some people love to listen music or some would like to watch movies, shopping and a lot more. With the involvement of a huge number of masses, people do share their personal information out there on the web.
You must have heard of recent attacks by hackers that allow them to hack 250,000 twitter accounts at once. But what you can say about that? As an end user of twitter you can’t do anything if you are one out of the 250,000 people’s twitter accounts. Someone has well said – “You must take precautions as precautions are better than cure.”
But have you ever wondered what precautions you can take at your end without leaving everything on these social media sites. Everyone must have shared his/her personal life as well as data with one or the other on these social media sites which may lead to a great loss in someone’s personal life.
In order to make sure that no one can hack anyone’s private information, Google has its two factor authentication security. With two factor authentication you can secure your account by:
1. Setting password – Google allows you to set a password on your account which is the common way of keeping your online account safe from hackers. But you must set a password which is difficult to guess as well as hard to crack.
2. Setting security via SMS – Google also allow you to set a mobile authentication code with which you can secure your account and allow you to save your personal data.
For now Google two-step authentication seem to be the solution that you can use to make your personal information secure. Everyone must take precautions to avoid hackers to hack their personal information.

Facebook is doing the same thing. However, when you forget your password, they ask you to name 3 friends in your social network, rather than sending you a reset password to your email or through SMS. I find this really dangerous because if anyone knows who my friends are, my Facebook account can be compromised. Sad, isn’t it?
